Best Places to Propose in Rochester, NY

Rochester, New York, located in the northwestern part of the state, is a beautiful spot to experience the best of all four seasons and appreciate nature, music, wine and culture. If you are starting to shop for affordable wedding bands and looking for the perfect way to pop the question, here are a few of the best places to propose in Rochester.

Outdoor winter fun

During the snowy season, Ellison Park - a 447-acre woodland area - is a magical place to get cozy as a couple. Go sledding together on one of the two sledding hills, or go ice skating while holding hands. Pack some snacks to bring with you - a thermos of hot chocolate, her favorite cookies or brownies, simple sandwiches. Take a break to eat, and when there is a lull in conversation, take out the diamond engagement ring and ask her to marry you.

Romantic music

Book seats for a concert at the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, which hosts events from holiday pops and big band jazz to classical concertos and tango dance performances. Get dressed up for a romantic evening out on the town, and spring for box seats so you have more privacy. Pick a moment when she's captivated by the show, and get down on one knee with the ring, waiting for her to look over and see you before you pop the question.

Under the stars

Head to the Strasenburgh Planetarium and marvel at the awe-inspiring wonders of the universe. Watch a star show or go to a Saturday night laser show, then go for a walk afterward. Tell her how she is the most important person in your world and you want to continue to explore together for the rest of your lives.

Cruising on the water

If you're proposing from early May to mid-October, head out on the water on a Sam Patch cruise. Book one of the special summertime wine cruises, and enjoy a relaxing tour of the Erie Canal and Genesee River. Find a quiet place away from other people to propose, or wait until you're back on solid ground - eating dinner or dessert at a favorite restaurant.
