One of the most prestigious purveyors of diamond engagement rings in the United States is Tiffany & Co. But like most high-status jewelers, their products are not very affordable for most people. Fortunately, that does not mean that you can’t get a designer look at a lower price. Choose a quality real diamond cluster ring that looks similar to popular designer rings at a much lower cost. Here’s how.

Scenario 1designer-diamond-cluster-ring-2

The Tiffany Round Brilliant with Channel-Set Band Engagement Ring features a round-cut solitaire diamond set above a row of smaller diamonds set in a channel in a white gold band. It is generally paired with a matching wedding band with smaller diamonds set in the band. $10,300 is the starting price for this engagement ring without the matching wedding band.

My Trio Rings offers a much less expensive trio wedding ring set that has a similar design. The engagement ring is a diamond cluster ring that has a cluster of delicate, high-quality diamonds set in a circle above a row of smaller diamonds set in a channel. Both the ladies’ wedding band and the men’s wedding band also have a row of smaller diamonds set in a channel to coordinate with the engagement ring. The price for all three rings is less than $900, which offers a savings of more than $9,000 compared to the Tiffany ring, as well as including three rings rather than only one.

Scenario 2

designer-diamond-cluster-ring-1The Tiffany Novo Ring has one large diamond solitaire in an almost square-shaped cut with a stripe of smaller diamonds nestled into the white gold band. It is often paired with a coordinating wedding band that is embedded with a row of smaller diamonds. Just the Tiffany Novo engagement ring alone starts at $11,500 for a 1 carat diamond.

You can find a much more affordable trio wedding ring set with a similar visual impact from My Trio Rings. For less than $700, you can purchase a coordinating set for you and your spouse-to-be that includes an engagement ring and two wedding bands. The engagement ring is a diamond cluster ring with a large square-shaped diamond cluster in place of the diamond solitaire of the Tiffany ring. The engagement ring, the ladies’ wedding band, and the men’s wedding band all feature a similar row of smaller diamonds embedded in the white gold bands. This beautiful trio wedding ring set is just as beautiful as the Tiffany engagement ring, and it costs almost $11,000 less.

With My Trio Rings, you can get the designer style you want without paying a designer price.

How to Choose Budget Wedding Rings

Wedding Rings

budget-wedding-ringsFor many couples, one of the most confusing parts of deciding to make a life together is choosing the right budget wedding rings. Shopping at a traditional brick-and-mortar jeweler can seem easier at first, since there are people right there to answer questions, but in actuality, such jewelry boutiques are usually more expensive than online jewelry stores, and the salespeople can be much pushier. If you want to save money, your best bet is choosing a reliable online jewelry store with an excellent customer service record, such as My Trio Rings, where you can find high quality but inexpensive wedding ring sets crafted with conflict-free diamonds. Here’s what you need to know.

You may have heard a lot about the 4 C’s. These can seem confusing, but basically these are the standard indicators of diamond quality and price.

1.    Cut indicates the shape of the diamond. The most common cut is the round brilliant cut, which is designed to make a diamond even brighter by creating more surfaces to reflect light, thus making the diamond appear shinier.
2.    Color refers to the color of the diamond. All diamonds are not exactly the same color. There is actually a spectrum between stones that are entirely clear in color and those which are more yellowish in hue. Most people prefer a more colorless stone, which is indicated by a letter that is earlier in the alphabet. More yellow stones are described with a letter that comes toward the end of the alphabet.
3.    Clarity describes the imperfections of the ring. For a ring with fewer flaws, choose a ring that is described with an F or IF.
4.    Carat weight means the weight (and hence size) of a diamond. Larger diamonds are usually more rare and thus more expensive.

Now you can use your knowledge of the 4 C’s to help you browse inexpensive wedding ring sets and purchase your budget wedding rings online without needing to speak to any pushy salespeople. Generally, the best way to save money on real diamond rings is to purchase diamond cluster rings, which group several smaller diamonds of a lower carat weight to get a higher visual impact at a lower price. Since the diamonds are smaller, it is less expensive to group higher quality stones together. In other words, the diamonds in diamond clusters are likely to be more clear in color and have fewer imperfections since they are smaller and less expensive.

Another excellent strategy when you are hoping to save money on budget wedding rings is to select trio wedding ring sets. These inexpensive wedding ring sets include three coordinating rings: a woman’s engagement ring, a woman’s wedding band, and a men’s wedding band. Since they are manufactured, packaged, and marketed together, it is usually much cheaper to buy them together rather than shopping for three separate rings.

Royal Wedding Fever? Fun Facts About Kate’s Diamond Cluster Ring

Wedding Rings

royal-diamond-cluster-ringThe biggest wedding news of the year is the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, which will occur at 11 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time on Friday, April 29 in Westminster Abbey. After dating for some seven years and privately discussing marriage for about a year, William reportedly proposed to Kate on a holiday to Africa with friends in October 2010. According to interviews, William carried his mother’s diamond cluster ring in his pocket for a few weeks before the proposal, waiting for the right moment, but Kate was not expecting William’s romantic proposal since they were visiting Kenya with friends. Their engagement was announced by the royal family on November 16, 2010.

The ring that William used to propose to Kate is his mother’s engagement ring, an 18 carat sapphire ring surrounded by small diamonds. This diamond cluster ring has sentimental value for William, and he told Britain’s Sky News that his use of the ring is his way to include his mother in the excitement of his upcoming marriage, even though she is not alive to celebrate William and Kate’s union.

William and Kate met at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland. They began dating in 2003 after living together as flatmates with a group of friends. In the early days of their courtship, William tried to impress Kate with his cooking, but Kate frequently had to rescue his meals from burning on the stove. Kate was initially nervous about meeting William’s family, but she says that both Prince Charles and the Queen were very welcoming to her when they first met.

Kate Middleton’s use of Princess Diana’s diamond cluster ring to symbolize her engagement to Prince William is certain to inspire wedding ring designers to create affordable wedding rings that imitate the style of that engagement ring as well as Kate and William’s wedding bands. As a result, couples who are looking for affordable wedding rings will be able to commemorate their love in royal style. It is likely that as soon as Kate’s top-secret wedding dress is revealed, designers will create more affordable copies of her style so that even couples who are planning a wedding on a budget can have a fairytale royal wedding at an affordable price.

Are you planning to watch the royal wedding this Friday? Are you hoping to find ideas for your own nuptials?

How to Secretly Find Out Your Bride's Ring Size

Wedding Rings

Wedding_Ring_HeartsTrying to figure out what size rings you need to buy for yourself and your bride-to-be is not nearly as difficult as you might think. It may be as simple as asking your future mother-in-law or sister-in-law if they know her ring size, or it might take a little bit more detective work on your part.

If you need to figure out your ring size and your bride’s ring size on your own, MyTrioRings has a free, easy ring sizer to get you started.

When you download and print this ring sizer, be certain that you measure the line at the top of the page with a ruler. If it measures exactly two inches, you are all set. If not, you may need to play around with the scale of the image on your printer before you can get started with your secret mission. MyTrioRings also offers a free plastic ring sizer that can be sent to you in the mail if you are having problems doing the measurements for your trio ring set with the printable version.

Grooms, there are two possibilities for using the free ring sizer printout. One option is to find another ring that your bride-to-be wears on her ring finger and compare that to the ring sizes on the free ring sizer. Another option is to cut out the finger measuring tool and measure the ring finger of your beloved yourself, perhaps when she is sleeping (assuming that she’s a heavy sleeper!). Measuring late in the day is preferable, since that is when fingers are at their largest. If you measure in the morning or measure cold fingers, you might purchase a trio ring set that is too small.

You will want to measure the widest point of the finger, usually the lower knuckle, to figure out what size will best fit your bride before you purchase an affordable bridal ring set to surprise her with.

Most women in the United States wear their wedding and engagement rings on the fourth finger of their left hand. In some cultures, the right hand is the more common location for the wedding ring. Seeing which finger your mother-in-law to be wears her wedding and engagement rings on is a safe bet for figuring out which finger your bride will prefer.

Cultural Differences: Wearing Bridal Rings on the Left or the Right Hand

Wedding Rings

Wedding_Ring_Set_CultureAround the world, wearing a wedding ring sets the tone for the commitment of marriage, as it is a public symbol of one’s wedding vows. The traditional practice of exchanging of rings and wearing them on the fourth finger has a history and significance that has changed over thousands of years. Depending on a person’s country of residence and religion, they may wear their engagement and wedding rings on the left hand or the right.

People wear wedding rings on their left hands in many Western countries, such as the United States, Mexico, Chile, Slovenia, Iran, and European nations including the UK, Italy, and France. In Asian countries, people also tend to wear the band on the left hand.

In Northern and Eastern European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Russia, Poland, and Bulgaria, it is more common to wear the wedding ring on the fourth finger of the right hand. In Portugal, Spain, and Greece, this is also the custom. Swedish brides wear unique wedding ring sets of three: the engagement ring, the wedding band, and the ring of motherhood.

Traditional Indian practice is to wear the wedding ring on the right hand, because the left hand is considered unclean. However, modern Indians may wear the ring on the left hand to match the custom in countries such as the United States. Orthodox Greeks also wear the wedding ring on the right hand, in accordance with Roman tradition; the word “left” in Latin means “sinister,” whereas the word for right is “dexter,” the root of “dexterity.”

In Brazil, the fiancé and fiancée wear plain bands as engagement rings on their right hands, and upon saying their vows, they switch the rings to the left hand. It is common in Germany and Netherlands to do the opposite: that is, to wear engagement rings on the left hand and wedding rings on the right.

In the Jewish tradition, the groom slips the ring on the index finger of the bride because it is the most prominent finger. Today, the bride typically moves the band to her ring finger after the ceremony.

Whether one wears engagement and wedding rings on the left hand or right varies by country and religion. However, there are wedding ring sets to suit any tradition, and the customer service staff at My Trio Rings is more than happy to help find the set for you.

A Wedding Ring's Significance

Wedding Rings

In a previous blog post, we discussed the origins of the wedding ring and why it has been a significant part of wedding ceremonies for centuries now. However, there is also a great deal of significance to the shape, composition, and placement of the wedding ring, which also date back to centuries ago.

For one, the shape of the wedding ring is extremely significant and not to be taken for granted. The wedding ring and especially the wedding band signify a continuous level of commitment and faith in the relationship. Because a circle has no beginning and no end, it is seen as a fitting symbol for marriage, which in theory also has no end. The circle has been a symbol of eternity for many ancient cultures, including the Egyptians, who worshipped the shape in the form of the moon and the sun. The hole in the center of the ring is considered to be the symbol of a gateway leading to new things.

Many people place the wedding ring and wedding band on the third finger of their left hand, but don’t exactly know the reason behind this. The reason for this is that there was an ancient belief that the vein of the third finger traveled directly to the heart. The Romans adopted this legend, and called this the ‘vena amoris’, which is Latin for ‘the vein of love,’ and placed wedding rings on this finger to symbolize the romantic aspect of marriage. This concept that wedding rings lie within a direct path to our hearts is something that many couples find comfort in when they get married.

When the art of metallurgy came about, and rings were made as metal, they were often made of numerous different types of metal, including copper, brass and iron. However, iron tended to rust quickly, and was not a good choice. Other metals were experimented with, and eventually gold became the metal of choice for wedding rings. Part of the reason for this is that Irish folklore considered it bad luck to be married with a ring not made of gold, and a gold ring also showed that a groom trusted his bride with valuable property.

The wedding ring is the most prominent symbol of love, devotion and fidelity today, and the exchange of rings is highly regarded as one of the key pieces of any wedding ceremony. However, no matter what the origins of the ring or superstitions out there, it is important to get the ring that you want, and one that you will be proud to wear for the rest of your life.

While there is a rising trend today of wedding ring upgrades, it is important to make a careful and well thought out decision when choosing a his and her wedding ring set. There are many things to consider, so when shopping for an engagement ring on our website, feel free to email questions, or to engage with a customer service representative through live chat.

A Second Chance on a Wedding Ring

Wedding Rings

A glamorous wedding is something that many girls fantasize about from a very young age. They picture a fancy and classy affair from the start to the finish, with the most lavish and expensive food and accessories. However, a luxurious and pricey event is often not feasible, especially since many couples choose to get married in their early twenties, when they are unlikely to have a lot of money saved up. While most girls dream of a valuable diamond engagement ring, many can’t afford the costs associated with one. However, there is a rising trend today of a wedding ring upgrade, or a second wedding ring, to compensate for this.

It makes a great deal of sense that while every girl wants to show off a gold engagement ring studded with an enormous diamond on her finger to all her friends, it isn’t realistic for a young  couple. Usually, the person buying the ring will spend all they can to get the best ring they can afford according to their budget.  It’s usually said that an engagement ring should cost anywhere from two to six months of salary. For someone in their early twenties, this means that they can’t afford to spend a great deal of money, and the couple will usually settle for a ring that is good enough.

However, just because a couple settled for a decent ring when they just got married doesn’t mean that they have to stay with that ring for the rest of their lives. There is a rising trend today of couples purchasing second rings for their spouse to make up for the ring they had to settle for when they first got married. This gesture makes a great deal of sense because years after a marriage, the couple usually is earning more money and has more money saved up to buy the ring of their dreams. A request for an upgrade is usually well received by a spouse, and is seen as a symbol of the love that has strengthened between the two over time.

Even more, instead of simply purchasing an upgrade wedding ring as a symbol of their undying love, more and more couples today are choosing to renew their vows after 10, 25, or 50 years together. A wedding vow renewal ceremony often includes the exchange of a new set of engagement rings and wedding bands as a reaffirmation of the original exchange of rings. The renewal of vows is a public way of saying that if you had the chance, you wouldn’t hesitate to get married to your loved one all over again.
