Proposal

Dallas has more to offer than just big Texas swagger. It’s an energetic city with a growing arts scene and unique pockets of rich culture, interesting architecture and natural beauty.

Explore Dallas’ lesser-known artsy side, and you’ll find the perfect spot for a romantic proposal. If you’re not yet sure where to propose, these ideas will put you on the right track.

1. Stroll & Savor

Public ArtWalk Dallas is a free, self-guided tour of art and architecture that spans 3.3 miles throughout the Arts District and downtown Dallas. Download a map, research pieces that interest you, then take a walk with you sweetheart. Propose with a diamond solitaire ring in front of your favorite piece of art, whether it’s Fountain Place or the Cathedral Mural.

2. Art for the Heart

The Dallas Arts District is the largest in the country, with 68 acres and 19 contiguous blocks. Spend an evening exploring its nooks and crannies, stopping by museum exhibitions, churches, restaurants and performance halls. For a more detailed look at Dallas’ architectural history, sign up for a 90-minute walking tour that will guide you through the 1890s until present day. Tours are held at 10 a.m. on the first and third Saturdays of every month at the ceremonial entrance to the Dallas Museum of Art. Grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat at a café or restaurant after your tour, and pop the question over dessert.

3. Garden of Delight

Escape the busy city and enter the magical world of Nasher Sculpture Center. The center is composed of a 10,000 indoor gallery space and a 1.5 acre outdoor “roofless museum.” Head to the garden, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the Dallas Arts District, featuring live oaks, weeping willows, stone pathways, pools, fountains and 25 large-scale sculptures. Find a quiet spot ideal for your romantic proposal.

where to propose prince edward islandPrince Edward Island is known for its stunning natural beauty, with sandy beaches and pastoral views of green rolling hills. The beloved children's series Anne of Green Gables is set here, and there are plenty of sights that relate to the books. If you're looking into proposal spots for a lady who loves nature or literature, this is the place. Here are a few ideas for where to propose on Prince Edward Island.

At a Romantic Inn

The Elmwood Heritage Inn is centrally located in Charlottetown, which is known for its festivals and delicious food. Consider planning your visit around an event such as the New Festival of Wines at the end of May, or the early fall's Charlottetown Festival, which features a variety of musical theater. The three-story Elmwood Heritage Inn has lovely rooms and common areas. You may want to splurge on a suite during your romantic getaway. Owners Carol and Jay MacDonald will answer all of your questions and recommend sights around town, including the Saturday farmers market.

Also in Charlottetown is the Heritage Harbour House Inn, which has spotless, cozy rooms and common areas, as well as a lush garden. The sun room and patio provide spaces to kick back and relax together. Walk a short distance to the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront and stroll through the shops in this idyllic town. Grab a casual bite at Lobster on the Wharf before taking an evening stroll and popping the question when the moment is right.

Guests who stay at the Firedance Country Inn Bed and Breakfast in Cornwall rave about its quiet charm, homey amenities, and fresh breakfasts. The large country home near the West River has gorgeous views and a guest lounge with a fireplace and open deck. Go swimming in the river and have a picnic on the sandy beach. Sunset is a wonderful time to surprise your love with a diamond cluster ring!

Outdoors

If you're interested in the gorgeous Points East Coastal Drive, the best time to come is mid-May, during the Tulip Trail & Festival. You'll not only experience the beautiful ocean views and breathtaking landscapes that are memorable year-round, but you'll also see the 10,000 tulips the bloom in the area. Stop to sightsee as you like, at the beaches, lighthouses, and gardens that you'll find along the way. There are plenty of romantic places to present your sweetheart a sparkling diamond cluster ring

Is your bride-to-be a fan of the Anne of Green Gables books by L.M. Montgomery? If so, she's sure to find an Anne of Green Gables Tour unforgettable. Green Gables Heritage Place is the inspiration for the books, with a preserved gabled house, classic gardens, and walking trails that include Lovers Lane and the Haunted Wood from the series. In Avonlea Village, you'll see what life was like for Anne, with activities like wagon rides and oyster shucking. All of this takes place against a stunning landscape. It's a perfect setting for a true romantic.

A Prince Edward Island Boat Tour is a lovely way to experience your surroundings. On a lobster dinner cruise, enjoy the fresh local seafood while you admire the Cavendish sand dunes and the waterways of the Stanley River and New London Bay. You'll even see a lobster hauling demonstration and learn about the ecosystem of the area. For nature lovers, this experience is a must!

Where to Propose in Kansas City

where to propose kansas cityKansas City, a metropolitan area on the border of Kansas and Missouri, is known for its barbecue and jazz. It's a favorite destination for budget travelers: Travel + Leisure recently named it "America's #1 Affordable Getaway," and Budget Travel included it as one of its Top 10 Budget Travel Destinations for 2012. And while it's not expensive to explore Kansas City, it offers plenty when it comes to romance. Here are a few of the best places to propose in Kansas City:

At a Beautiful Fountain

Kansas City is called "The City of Fountains" because the number of fountains within its limits is second only to Rome. Here's a creative proposal idea: Stop at a fountain to make a wish with your sweetie, then to get down on one knee and tell her that you wished to spend the rest of your life with her.

Take a look at Kansas City's fountains and choose one that your lady would love. The JC Nichols Memorial Fountain features high arches of water and sculptures of rearing horses, and it's breathtaking when it lights up at night. Behind it sits the Girada Bell Tower, a replica of the Cathedral of Seville in Spain. The Diana Fountain depicts the Roman goddess of the hunt and the moon surrounded by cherubs. It sits in front of one of the largest manmade waterfalls and is encircled by flowers in the spring.

In an Elegant Restaurant

When one Yelp reviewer posted a question asking her peers for a romantic restaurant recommendation in Kansas City, nearly every reply that she received said, "Le Fou Frog." It's authentically French in the food and the experience, where dinner can stretch out leisurely over a period of hours. The charming waiters will periodically stroll through the restaurant and enthusiastically serenade diners with Broadway show tunes. If asked in advance, they may even sing your sweetheart's favorite song to her and set the stage for you to present her a sparkling diamond cluster ring. Now that's a creative proposal idea!

For New American food, try the popular Bluestem Restaurant. Choose a meal of three, five, or ten (!) courses, and splurge on the wine pairings for your special occasion. A typical dish is diver sea scallop with sweet potato, brussels sprouts, bacon, maple gel, and pretzel salt. It's creative, fresh, and memorable. Diners describe the ambience of this restaurant as cozy, like a large living room, with couches and armchairs pulled up to the tables and dozens of mirrors lining the walls. Make a reservation to ensure that you get a seat.

In a Lovely Garden

If your bride-to-be loves the outdoors, take her to one of Kansas City's gardens. Powell Gardens is just outside of Kansas City, in Kingsville, MO, and it will not disappoint. It's open year-round and features a meadow full of wildflowers, a rock and waterfall garden, and a lake full of lily pads. Check the calendar before you plan your visit for events like the summer butterfly festival and cooking demonstrations by local chefs. Cafe Thyme is a wonderful place to eat fresh salads and sandwiches made from produce grown onsite.

Loose Park Rose Garden is stunning when its flowers are blooming. Take your lady for a walk under the trellis-covered walkways and stop in front of the lovely fountain - you'll feel like you're royalty taking a stroll around your chateau. The garden is so picturesque that you'll likely see other couples taking engagement photos or saying their vows. Stop under a tree or sit together on a bench, then pop the big question.

Before you plan your Kansas City proposal, pick out a diamond cluster ring to suit her style at My Trio Rings.

"Vancouver is Manhattan with mountains. It’s a liquid city, a tomorrow city, equal parts India, China, England, France and the Pacific Northwest. It’s the cool North American sibling." – The New York Times

Vancouver is just next door on Canada’s beautiful west coast, but it is just starting to receive the credit it deserves as a lively, diverse and fun vacation destination. Its waterfront location, charming neighborhoods and thriving cultural scene provide everything you need for a city getaway that’s not too far from home. If you are searching for where to propose, select the right diamond engagement ring and book a romantic weekend for two in Vancouver.

Where to Stay in Vancouver

Once a warehouse district full of textile shops and train yards, Yaletown has been transformed into one of the city’s most eclectic and hip neighborhoods where you’ll find great boutique hotels, restaurants, shops and bars.

3 Creative Ways to Propose in Vancouver

1. Cocktail Party

If you both love sampling new food and drink, check out one of the ongoing events hosted by Legacy Liquor Store in Olympic Village. Stop by for a free wine or beer tasting, or register for one of the Bittered Sling Bistro series, in which the city’s top mixologists pair creative cocktails with delicious dishes. Stroll over to nearby Creekside Park, and propose while looking out over the water.

2. A Whale of a Good Time

Whale watching season runs from April 1 to October 31, so plan your trip to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience (and maybe some warm weather). Killer whales visit the region to feed on salmon returning to the Fraser River to spawn, and you can book a boat tour to see them in action (Vancouver Whale Watch has a 90 percent success rate). Spend the day observing the wonders of nature, then at the opportune moment, get down on one knee with a diamond engagement ring and pop the question.

3. Get Festive

Vancouver offers a wide variety of festivals throughout the year. Browse the calendar, and find the perfect time to propose. Propose under a canopy of beautiful pink flowers during the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival in April or under the romantic glow of the Illuminares Lantern Festival in July.

where to propose in vermontMany people think of Vermont as a little slice of paradise. The Green Mountain State has earned its idyllic reputation: Its landscape is green and filled with beautiful places to enjoy nature. The air and water are clean, crime is low, and residents are healthy. If you're planning a proposal to a nature lover, Vermont is the place to do it.

Proposing Outdoors in Vermont

Vermont has a myriad of options for a gorgeous outdoor proposal. In the winter, reserve ski passes at a resort like Killington or Mount Snow and arrange to stay in the area. There are typically a variety of options in the area, so choose whether you'd prefer a grand hotel, a cozy room with a kitchenette, a condo, or an inn. Zip the box containing her diamond cluster ring securely into your jacket, then propose either on the ski lift or at the bottom of the hill you've just skied down together. With either option, you'll enjoy a beautiful snowy backdrop and a feeling of exhilaration.

During milder seasons, plan a hike with your lady that culminates in a breathtaking view. The Sunset Ridge Trail, for example, leads you up a rocky ridge to Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont. If you'd like to camp, Gifford Woods State Park is known for its fall foliage, and it offers lodging options that include cabins, lean-tos, and sites for trailers or tents. Pop the question on a mountaintop, or while sitting by the fire at your campsite.

Lake Champlain has plenty to offer when you're planning to propose. Rent a boat from Westport Marina, Waterfront Boat Rentals, or another local company and cruise around the lovely lake with your sweetheart. Alburg Dunes State Park has a remote white sand beach with crystal clear water, with picnic tables and grills available. When she's not looking, write, "Will you marry me?" in the sand.

Villages such as Manchester or Grafton are fun to explore together. Manchester is a quaint little town with a white steeple church and charming inns. Outdoor adventures are nearby, whether its canoeing on the Battenkill River or hiking through Merrick Forest and Prospect Rock. Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center is the perfect spot for sports, whether it's cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing in the winter or canoeing, biking, and swimming in the summer.

Where to Propose in Baja California

If you want to plan a romantic proposal in a beautiful, beachy location but don’t have the budget or time to jet off to Hawaii or St. Thomas, Baja California is a close and affordable option. The Baja California Peninsula extends from Mexicali in the north to Cabo San Lucas in the south and offers a diverse landscape of rustic fishing villages, colonial towns, vineyards, touristy resorts and nightclubs and gorgeous beaches for surfing and swimming.

You can hop a direct flight from many US cities and arrive in the Cabo San Lucas Airport within a few hours. Wondering where to propose? Skip the party town of Cabo San Lucas and head for its more mellow, artsy twin, San José del Cabo, or go an hour north to stay at peaceful hacienda in the lovely village of Todos Santos.

Best Places to Propose in Baja California

Turtle Watching

If your girlfriend is a nature or animal lover, plan a unique and romantic proposal that also benefits the planet. From August to November, Baja Outback in San José Del Cabo offers a wildlife conservation excursion to help preserve endangered sea turtles. Together, you can adopt a baby sea turtle, release it into the ocean and watch as it begins its journey. Pop the question by writing, “Will you marry me?” in the sand, and celebrate with some fresh seafood and a few cold cervezas.

Surf’s Up

Rent a private room at Pescadero Surf Camp in Todos Santos, and spend your days falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves, getting private surf instruction and relaxing by the pool during your downtime. The beach is good for any level -- beginner, intermediate and advanced -- and you can rent all the equipment you need to get started. Plan your proposal for a time of day when the beach is tranquil and you are relaxed after a day of sunning and surfing -- first thing in the morning or as the sun is setting.

Cooking Up a Storm

Nothing spells romance like a home-cooked meal. Sign up for a private cooking class at Huerta Los Tamarindos Cooking School in San José Del Cabo, and you will visit the Los Tamarindos organic farm to gather ingredients, learn about each recipe, then prepare a multi-course lunch with the chef. Fill your bellies with delicious food you have selected and cooked, then make the dessert course extra special by proposing with a diamond cluster ring

Where to Propose in Cape Cod

Proposal

Cape Cod, a beautiful coastal area in eastern Massachusetts known for its lovely coastline, charming towns and idyllic accommodations, is a perfect place to plan a proposal in the spring and summer months. Reserve a room at a romantic B&B, such as the Cranberry Inn in Chatham, put some bubbly on ice and find the right moment to pop the question.

The cape is actually divided into four areas -- Upper Cape, Mid Cape, Lower Cape and Outer Cape -- and composed of 15 separate but nearby towns. The Cape Cod Travel Guide says, “Cape Cod’s 15 towns are not unlike siblings: metaphorical brothers and sisters, sharing some qualities, yet remaining refreshingly different.” Here are some of the best places to propose in Cape Cod.

Dancing in the Moonlight

Step back in time by spending a beautiful summer evening listening to the Chatham Band play a free Friday night concert in Kate Gould Park. The concerts have been a Cape Cod tradition since the late 1940s, and they are scheduled every Friday at 8 p.m. from June 28 to August 30. Pack a gourmet picnic dinner, bring a blanket and dance with your sweetheart under the stars. During a slow song, draw her close and propose with a stunning diamond engagement ring

Hit the Trail

If you’re not sure where to propose in Cape Cod, look no further than the great outdoors. Cape Cod has miles of trails designed just for cycling. Rent bikes from a local shop, pick your favorite trail and hit the road, biking leisurely along the coastline, through lush wooded areas or through picturesque towns. Stop for a break at a scenic lookout point and ask her to be your wife.

Sweet Music

Start your evening at Pisces, an intimate and romantic restaurant, for an early dinner of fresh local seafood or rib-eye steak (save room for the dessert wine and the Pisces toasted almond joy sundae). After dinner, head out to see an unforgettable a capella concert from the group Hyannis Sound (formed each summer by a group of some of the most talented college a capella singers in the country). Once you get back to your room after a wonderful evening and it’s just the two of you again, propose with a gorgeous diamond engagement ring and pop the champagne.

For these reasons, the Central Coast of California is a top destination for those who are ready to propose. From Monterey Bay to Point Conception, you'll find a number of little beach towns well known for their beauty and charm. Make sure to bring your camera as you drive along Highway 1 and capture the rugged natural beauty! Here are a few of the best places to propose on the Central Coast of California.

Santa Cruz

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a great spot for a memorable date, an amusement park with an actual wooden boardwalk over a gorgeous beach. Spend the day enjoying the rides (the Giant Dipper is a classic wooden roller coaster that opened in 1924), eating funnel cakes and hot dogs, and playing in the arcade. Then walk along the boardwalk to the Santa Cruz Wharf to enjoy ocean views and watch the sea lions playing under the pier. Surprise her with a diamond cluster ring and watch it sparkle in the California sun!

Monterey

The 17-Mile drive runs along the Monterey Peninsula and provides stunning views of the sea and sky. Allow three hours to take a leisurely drive past mansions and manicured golf courses, stopping along the way to take it all in. At Pebble Beach Market, you can pick up a picnic basket filled with deli items such as meats and cheeses. Between Point Joe and Seal Rock, you'll find the best places to eat, and you can set up your meal on a picnic table. Time your visit right, and you'll have the sunset as your backdrop as you pop the question!

Big Sur

Big Sur is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. Its rugged cliffs lead straight down to turquoise waves and sun-baked beaches. You'll find plenty of places between Carmel and San Simeon to pull off the road and admire the view, or take a walk on Pfeiffer Beach and get down on one knee in the sand as you present your sweetheart with a diamond cluster ring. Afterward, splurge on a celebratory dinner at the Sierra Mar restaurant at the Post Ranch Inn.

Santa Barbara

If you're taking a romantic getaway with your lady, there's no better place to stay than the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara. The mild climate and breathtaking views of Santa Barbara have earned it the nickname "the American Riviera." The Spanish style resort will encourage you to relax right away, with its lazily waving palm trees, spa, and rooms that provide every comfort you could imagine. Take a tour of a local winery, surf the waves, or simply sit and read poolside. Your proposal will be an unforgettable part of your special stay!

As the least populous state in the country, Wyoming is an oasis of quiet relaxation, dramatic landscapes, natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Jackson Hole, Wyoming is an ideal spot for a romantic weekend getaway in any season, offering snow sports and cozy lodges in the winter and warm weather and water activities in the summer.

Plan a romantic proposal for your sweetheart away from the busy pace city life, and take advantage of a place where you feel like the only two people in the world. The only problem you’ll encounter is narrowing down your options and deciding where to propose in Jackson Hole!

A Romantic Proposal in the Cowboy State

The charming town of Jackson Hole has a little something for everyone. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and is located near the Snake River, so outdoor activities abound in cold and warm weather, and it offers a good variety of restaurants, inns, lodges and B&Bs.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Spring Creek Ranch is located a few miles outside the town of Jackson Hole and showcases spectacular views of the Grand Tetons. Reserve a cozy inn room with its own wood-burning fireplace and balcony or a more luxurious studio, suite or condominium that will make you feel right at home. If you go in winter, hit the slopes for a great day of skiing, then unwind with a long massage at the spa. Curl up in front of a roaring fire with mugs of hot cocoa, then propose with the perfect diamond engagement ring. If you go in spring or summer, schedule a private dusk wildlife safari or Grand Teton photo safari and propose with an unforgettable backdrop.

Get a Taste of the Alps

Book a stay in the Alpenhof Lodge outside Jackson Hole, and you will think you’ve been transported to a cozy hotel in the Alps. It is conveniently located next to the tram and ski lifts and includes a complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi and parking. On a chilly day, spend the afternoon relaxing in the outdoor heated pool, jacuzzi and sauna, then eat a delicious Alpine-Swiss dinner in the Alpenrose restaurant. Close the day with your romantic proposal; arrange for the staff to serve a sparkling diamond engagement ring along with the dark chocolate fondue at the end of the meal.

Fly High

During the spring and summer months, from May 25 to September 29, the Jackson Hole aerial tram offers a 360-degree view of the Grand Tetons from 4,139 feet in the air. Book tickets for the tram and enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you ascend to Rendezvous Mountain in less than 15 minutes. Pop the question when you reach the peak of the mountain, looking down on Jackson Hole, the Snake River Valley and Grand Teton National Park.

Best Places to Propose in Savannah

Proposal

“For me, Savannah's resistance to change was its saving grace. The city looked inward, sealed off from the noises and distractions of the world at large. It grew inward, too, and in such a way that its people flourished like hothouse plants tended by an indulgent gardener. The ordinary became extraordinary. Eccentrics thrived. Every nuance and quirk of personality achieved greater brilliance in that lush enclosure than would have been possible anywhere else in the world.”

― John Berendt, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Savannah is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the United States, making it one of the best places to propose to your sweetheart. It has the charm and grace of the Old South and the beauty and convenience of modern urban planning. You will find it easy to fall under the spell of the “Hostess City,” as Savannah is known, with its warm and welcoming environment. Find the perfect spot for a romantic proposal neither of you will forget.

Best Places to Propose in the "Hostess City"

1. Squares of Savannah

The historic downtown area of Savannah is dotted with 22 gorgeous public squares that date back to the 18th and 19th century. Spend an afternoon walking through a few of these squares, strolling under huge live oak canopies and pausing to sit and people watch by one of the many fountains or statues. Grab some gourmet (and healthy) sandwiches at Brighter Day Natural Foods on the edge of Forsyth Park, and find a secluded spot for a picnic in the beautiful grounds of the park. Under the cover of Spanish moss, get down on one knee and propose with a stunning diamond engagement ring.

2. Horse-Drawn Perfection

Make a reservation with Historic Savannah Carriage Tours for a horse-drawn carriage to pick you up at your hotel. The romantic “proposal tour” will arrange everything for a picture-perfect night for two. Your driver will escort you to a gazebo in Whitefield Square, telling you the local legend of how sharing a kiss in the gazebo promises a lifetime of true love. Then you can share a kiss in the gazebo and pop the question with the perfect ring. When you get back into the carriage, you can toast to your future with a bottle of champagne.

3. A Noble Meal

Enjoy an unforgettable meal of fantastic food and wine at Noble Fare, a charming restaurant owned by married couple Jenny and Patrick McNamara. The cuisine focuses on locally sourced ingredients and modern, creative preparation. Go all out with the food and wine tasting menu, and savor every delicious course. Arrange with the restaurant to bring out the chocolate love cake as the final course, and propose over decadent dessert and sparkling wine.

Where to Propose in Minneapolis

Proposal

Laid back, warm, and artsy, with plenty of green spaces and a vibrant arts scene, Minneapolis is a city that is putting itself on the map. As the city's website explains why its slogan is "City by Nature": "We're really a city that is infused with and surrounded by nature." In fact, you'll find a park every six blocks! If you're exploring where to propose, consider these Minneapolis highlights.

The Open Air

Minnehaha Falls at Minnehaha Park

This 193-acre park is one of the most beautiful places in Minneapolis. Minnehaha Park is home to a variety of gorgeous trees and wildflowers. With your sweetie, admire the 53-foot waterfall -- the tallest along the Mississippi River chain -- and limestone bluffs. Visitors note how amazing it is to see a waterfall in the middle of a city, free of charge. Rent bikes or a pedal car and cruise around the park before you pop the question.

Stone Arch Bridge

Visitors agree that the Stone Arch Bridge is a gem of Minneapolis. Converted from two tracks of the Great Northern Railway, the bridge still connects one side of the river to the other, and it's now a popular spot for people to jog and walk their dogs. The continuous roar of the nearby St. Anthony Falls will put you in a tranquil mood and set the scene for your big moment.

A Beautiful Garden

Lyndale Park Rose Garden

This is a must-see for nature lovers. Lyndale Park Rose Garden is the second oldest public rose garden in the country, and it features 3,000 different plants in 100 varieties. Mid-June through early October is the time when the roses are in full bloom. Walk through the garden hand-in-hand with your sweetheart and take a moment to breathe in the lovely fragrance. The serene Japanese Zen garden is a perfect place to present her with a diamond cluster ring.

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

You've never seen anything like the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Sculptures both beautiful and quirky dot the 11-acre landscape. Make sure to see the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry, a whimsically oversized red cherry cradled by a silver spoon. Other destinations include a vine-covered arbor and flower garden, and the Standing Glass Fish sculpture by famed architect Frank Gehry. If you're wondering where to propose to a lady who loves art, this is the place to take her.

A Classy Restaurant

Vincent

There's something inherently romantic about French food. At Vincent, delicacies like pan-seared scallops and coq au vin, paired with a glass of wine, will set the scene for your proposal. A decadent choice for dessert is the Louis Xv, a hazelnut chocolate cake served with a pear poached in wine. The three-course prix fixe dinner menu is an affordable indulgence and will be a pleasure from start to finish.

Restaurant Alma

At Restaurant Alma, cooking locally and seasonally is an art. The menu changes every six to eight weeks, so you'll be able to try something new each time you dine there. Try simple, delicate fare like the Chard Soufflé and the Beet & Farro Risotto. To try a little of this and a bit of that, splurge on the three-course tasting menu or vegetarian four-course menu. The softly lit space is classy and modern. Your dinner here will be memorable not only for the food, but for the surprise that's coming along with it!

When you're ready to propose, pick out a sparkling diamond cluster ring from My Trio Rings that will take her breath away.

Best Places to Propose in Maine

Proposal

Visiting Maine should be on your bucket list, plain and simple. Why? Its gorgeous natural landscapes, coastal bed and breakfasts, and fresh seafood are not be missed. If you're planning a proposal, consider popping the question in a romantic setting in Maine. Here are a few ideas for an unforgettable proposal.

1. Outdoor Proposals

Maine is famous for the beauty of its state and national parks. Plan a hike in Acadia National Park, which is home to a variety of plants and animals. If your lady likes a challenge, the two of you can scale Cadillac Mountain, the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast at 1532 feet. Even if you don't make it all the way to the top on foot, you can enjoy the stunning views of the ocean, forests, and mountains by driving the 20-mile Park Loop Road.

Another romantic idea is to propose at one of Maine's 65 historical lighthouses. Lighthouses provide breathtaking backdrops by day or by night (when its beam sweeps over the water). If you want to climb the lighthouse tower, you can time your visit to happen on Open Lighthouse Day in September, or visit the Permaquid Point lighthouse year-round. Browse a few photos to choose a destination. Portland Head is the most visited and painted lighthouse in New England.

2. Romantic Maine Bed and Breakfasts

Hidden Pond is a small resort in Kennebunkport that will make you and your loved one feel completely pampered. Rent a bungalow with views of the forest and the nearby beach, and sign up for massages at the spa. Take the shuttle to the beach or the trolley into town. You won't need to worry about a thing, except finding the right moment to present her diamond cluster ring!

In Portland, Maine, relax together at The Chadwick Bed and Breakfast. Cozy, memory foam beds, an attentive staff, and a garden with a hammock for two await you. Proposal

If you are looking for a proposal idea, consider U.S. ski resorts as a possible destination. Wherever you live, you are likely to have ski resort within a fairly close proximity. From Massanutten and Wintergreen in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to Breckenridge in Colorado, there are ample opportunities for snowy mountain adventures this winter.

Best Places to Propose at a Ski Resort

1. By the Fireside

It doesn’t get much more romantic than sitting together in front of a crackling fire together. Whether you are bundled up and sipping hot chocolate together in a private corner inside the ski lodge or cuddling in your own private chalet, a proposal by firelight offers warmth and ambiance for your winter wedding proposal. Just bring an inexpensive diamond engagement ring to the U.S. ski resort of your choice to set the mood.

2. On the Slopes

One of the best places to propose at a ski resort is on the slopes. Although the thick ski gloves make it a good idea to leave the inexpensive diamond engagement ring home until later, there are many different ski slope proposal thrills to be had. Perhaps holding hands while riding up the side of the mountain together on a ski lift, perhaps standing at the top of a slope ready to head down together, or maybe even shouting out your words of love while racing downhill in the middle of a run appeal to you for your ski resort proposal.

3. At the Spa

Many ski resorts offer a wide variety of services besides simply ski rentals and ski slopes. From exercise facilities to excellent food to spas, a trip to a ski resort is often a full body experience. For a more sensual proposal experience, consider popping the question in the hot tub or during a couple’s massage.

Best Places to Propose in Jamaica

Proposal

Perhaps you live in Jamaica, or perhaps you are looking for the best places to propose in a memorable, exotic location that your bride-to-be will never forget. Whatever the case, Jamaica boasts a wide variety of gorgeous scenery, impressive resorts, and pristine beaches, which may be some of the best places to propose in all of the Caribbean, as many parts of Jamaica have a more authentic, less touristy feel than many other Caribbean destinations.

Best Places to Propose in Jamaica

Dolphin Cove

Dolphin Cove is definitely a tourist destination, but it is a place where you can hop into water bordering the Caribbean Sea and touch, kiss, and swim with dolphins. It also offers paths through the jungle, other interesting animals, and a buffet lunch. For a truly memorable proposal, leave the trio wedding ring set at home where there is no risk of dropping jewelry in the water. Propose surrounded by the dolphins, and celebrate together afterwards by sipping fresh coconuts alongside the sea. Ask the professional photographers on staff to photograph or video your special moment.

Dunn’s River Falls

Just around the corner from Dolphin Cove is a gorgeous park with a waterfall that cascades into the Caribbean. If climbing is your speed, then join a guided group holding hands to scale the waterfall upwards from the beach. As you approach the point of triumph at the top, choose to declare your undying love, surrounded by the roaring waters and lush vegetation. This is another memorable proposal location which necessitates leaving your trio wedding ring set at home and pulling out the engagement ring after the proposal when you are both safely on dry land.

7 Mile Beach

It seems as though all the best places to propose in Jamaica include water. Negril’s 7 Mile Beach is a popular white sand beach paradise with many on-site amenities, not to be confused with a gorgeous Grand Cayman beach of the same name. There are more family-friendly stretches, more private areas, and also parts of the beach that are sectioned off for visitors who prefer to let it all hang out and do the beach thing without bathing suits. If a pristine beach resort appeals to your romantic proposal dreams, then 7 Mile Beach may be the place for you.

where to propose boiseBoise, Idaho, the City of Trees, is brimming with natural beauty. With five city parks, the woodsy Boise River, the rugged Bogus Basin Mountain, and many other places to appreciate the great outdoors, you'll find plenty of romantic places to pop the question.

Outdoor Boise

Boise River Greenbelt

If your lady loves spending time in nature, bring her to Boise River Greenbelt. This 25-mile path runs right through the city -- some residents even use it for their commute by bike or on foot! Both sides of the river are accessible, so take a long walk together or enjoy a leisurely bike ride on the paved paths along the water. There are many points of interest along the way, including Julia Davis Park, which features a zoo, paddle boats, and several museums.

Idaho Botanical Garden

Rose gardens, herb gardens, annuals and perennials, sculptures and fountains...this garden has something beautiful for all tastes. Each season of the year offers a different experience: in the spring, see the new blossoms, and in the summer, enjoy an outdoor concert at the gardens. In the fall, marvel at the changing colors, and around the holidays, you must see the Winter Garden aGlow! The gardens are adorned with 270,000 lights that sparkle throughout December.

At a Romantic Boise Hideaway

Anniversary Inn

The Anniversary Inn caters to couples who are looking for a quirky retreat. Each room is decorated in an imaginative theme. The Hollywood Room has a soda fountain, a tub for two with jets, and a 55" flat screen TV. The Presidential Suite has a four-poster bed, marble columns, and a fireplace for the winter months. There are also more offbeat rooms available, including the Treasure Island Suite, where your bed is on the deck of a ship!

Boise Hillside Suites

Combine comfort, beautiful scenery, and convenience, and you'll have the Boise Hillside Suites. It's located in Boise's North End, where you can spend an afternoon enjoying the cafes and shops surrounded by natural beauty. Compare rooms and choose your amenities, such as a private bathtub, a wood-burning fireplace, or a mountain view. This secluded getaway on the Oregon Trail is a wonderful place to spend quality time with your sweetheart. Just looking through the room options on the website will inspire a few creative proposal ideas!

In an Upscale Boise Area Restaurant

Gino's Italian Ristorante

With soft lighting, pressed white tablecloths, and mouth-wateringly delicious Italian food, Gino's is a memorable spot to celebrate a special occasion. It's likely that Gino himself will cook for you and stop by your table to see how you're enjoying your meal. The pasta, the fish, the eggplant parmesan, and anything else on the menu will delight your palate with rich flavors. Finish the meal with cannoli, tiramisu, and, of course, a diamond cluster engagement ring!

Epi's Basque Restaurant

People from Spain's Basque country are famous for their culinary innovation. Surprisingly, Idaho has the highest concentration of Basque residents outside of Europe. Experience authentic Basque cuisine in this cozy converted bungalow in Meridian, where the staff will welcome you as if you were family. If you contact them in advance, they may even help you come up with a few creative proposal ideas to carry out at Epi's. Where to Propose in Puerto Rico

Proposal

Puerto Rico isn't called "La Isla del Encanto" (The Isle of Enchantment") for nothing. With its picture-perfect beaches, verdant rainforests, and waterfront cantinas, it lives up to its name. There's a reason why Puerto Rico is so popular for weddings and engagements! When you're ready to propose, consider one of these five ultra-romantic settings:

1. Culebra

Culebra is a quiet island with a population of less than 2,000. If you're looking for a tropical getaway, you'll find it here. Spend the day at Flamenco Beach (Playa Flamenco), one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with white sand, calm blue waters, and swaying palm trees. Work up an appetite exploring Culebra National Wildlife Refuge and then dine in the open air at a café on the water. This excellent feature in New York Magazine will help you plan your weekend escape.

2. El Yunque

El Yunque National Forest is truly breathtaking. Drive up the winding road into the rainforest (El Yunque receives more than 200 inches of rain each year) and see gorgeous waterfalls, lush foliage, and an impressive diversity of plants and animals. Within the forest's 28,000 acres, you'll have plenty of room to hike and find the perfect spot to present your sweetheart with a diamond cluster ring

3. Vieques

Vieques is the larger sister island to Culebra, and it's just as gorgeous. In addition to its beaches, Vieques is famous for Mosquito Bay, the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world. The tiny, harmless organisms light up the water at night, outlining the swimming fish and humans with a blue-green glow. You have to experience it to believe it. You'll find plenty of outdoor activities in this picturesque setting, including horseback riding, scuba diving, hiking, and bicycling.

4. Old San Juan

Old San Juan is full of old-world charm. Walk hand-in-hand through the cobblestone streets, admiring the colorful Spanish colonial architecture and stopping to take pictures of the ocean views from San Juan Gate. Eat at an outdoor cafe and enjoy a night of rumba or salsa dancing. Hotel El Convento, a convent converted into a luxury hotel, has exposed wooden beams and handcrafted tile floors.

5. Orocovis

If you and your loved one enjoy the great outdoors, Orocovis has a lot to offer you. Sign up for a tour of Toro Verde Nature Adventure Park and choose an adventure experience that suits your fancy. Zipline two-handed over valleys of the deepest green, or fly like a bird (protected by the safety of a harness, of course). You can also rappel down a rugged mountain cliff. The only thing that could make your sweetie's day even more memorable would be a diamond cluster ring!

Proposal

Gentlemen (and ladies), whether you already live in Arizona, or whether you are simply looking for a memorable destination proposal location, Tucson is an excellent place to consider popping the question. Recently, Redbox actually rated Tucson as one of the least romantic cities, based on a relative lack of romantic movie rentals. But regardless of what people are popping in their DVD players, romance is alive and well in Arizona, with plenty of lovely – and unconventional – proposal spots for the picking.

Best Places to Propose in Tucson

1. In the Desert

If you are looking for romance, look no further than Tucson’s Lodge on the Desert, a beautiful hotel and restaurant nestled in the desert and landscaped with native plants. An outdoor dining area under the stars features a four-sided fireplace for year-round dining and proposal comfort. So bring an affordable solitaire engagement ring, enjoy some steamed yam masa tamales or one of the other delicious contemporary fusion cuisine dishes, and pop the question over dessert.

2. At a Shrine

Downtown Tucson features the site of a legendary love triangle and crime scene, now a shrine where wishes are said to come true. The Wishing Shrine is a place where you can light a candle to grant your wish, or perhaps it would be more direct to pull an affordable solitaire engagement ring out of your pocket and propose right then and there. For additional romance, bring a large candle to light together and make a wish for your future together.

3. On the Road

For a private proposal on your own schedule, hop into the car at dusk or whenever it fits into your evening plans. Near the intersection of Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue, take a leisurely drive to look over the glow of the city lights in the midst of the desert. Drive by the glittering valley before you find a quiet place to pull over and ask for her hand.

Where to Propose in Portland, Oregon

Proposal

Portland, Oregon, is a city full of life. Here you'll find quirky brunch cafes, live music venues, coffeehouses, and food trucks. You'll find Powell's Books, which is the largest independent used and new bookstore in the world. Most importantly, you'll find plenty of places to carry out your creative proposal ideas! Here are a few suggestions for where to propose in Portland, Oregon:

In the great outdoors

Multnomah Falls is not to be missed when you visit Portland. With 611 feet of cascading water, a stone bridge, pretty little streams, and surrounding valleys and forests, it's said to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Here's an idea: ask someone (a friend, if you're hiking in a group, or a kind-looking stranger) to take your photo as a couple. Just before the picture is taken, say, "Wait!" and get down on one knee to pop the question. You can bet that the impromptu photographer will snap a few photos of you presenting a diamond cluster ring to your bride-to-be!

Washington Park houses a number of beautiful attractions. Portland Japanese Garden is tranquil and picturesque, with impeccable landscaping and plenty of areas to sit with your sweetie and enjoy each other's company. Take a virtual tour of the Upper Pond to scope out a proposal spot. According to its website, the International Rose Test Garden is the "oldest official, continuously operated public rose test garden in the United States." It opened in 1917 and serves as a testing ground for new varieties of roses. Walk with your sweetheart holding hands, and breathe in the sweet flowery scents together.

At a romantic spa

Aqua Terra is owned by a husband and wife team and specializes in couples' massage. In addition to explaining the benefits of couples' massage -- relaxing together is a mutually healing and bonding experience -- they even give suggestions for local date ideas! One Yelp reviewer said, "I had the BEST...let me repeat that...BEST massage in my life here."

Spa Willamina tends to receive rave reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor for providing a cozy, relaxing experience. Book an outdoor couples' massage and get ready to relax. You can even have a glass of wine when you arrive! Take a virtual tour through the website to get a feel for the ambience. Evening hours are available, in case you want to enjoy the spa before heading to dinner feeling like a new person.

In an elegant Italian restaurant

Just looking at the menu at a Cena Ristorante will make your mouth water. Corn & mascarpone raviolini with butter-poached Maine lobster. Wild boar bolognese with cocoa tagliatelle and pecorino. For dessert, butterscotch pudding, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and pizzelle. Hungry yet? Add in romantic ambience, attentive service, and a wonderful wine list, and a Cena Ristorante should be at the top of your list for places to propose in Portland!

Fondue is both delicious and romantic. Nestle into a booth at Urban Fondue and choose your favorite dipping items and cheeses. Whether you're in the mood for seafood, red meat, or vegetarian fare, you'll find a rich, delicious option. The Ruby Port Fondue, for example, is a blend of white cheddar, Swiss, and Gruyere with caramelized onions and port wine. Finish the meal with chocolate fondue...and your proposal, of course!

While you're brainstorming creative proposal ideas, pick out the perfect diamond cluster ring from My Trio Rings!

Where to Propose in Charleston, South Carolina

Proposal

Charleston, South Carolina, is one of the oldest cities in the country (founded in 1670!) and is full of romantic Southern charm. Spanish moss hangs from old oak trees, the historic architecture is remarkably well preserved, and the city has a laid-back feel that encourages you to take your time as you stroll through the town. If you're ready to propose, Charleston has plenty of memorable settings for your big moment!

In a quiet outdoor garden

White Point Gardens (or Battery Park)

One of the most picturesque destinations in Charleston is White Point Gardens. Enjoy 360 degree views of the two rivers (the Ashley and Cooper Rivers) and their bridges, as well as the beautiful old buildings in town. The wooden swings at Charleston Waterfront Park are the perfect spot to take your lady's hand as the sun sets, share a heartfelt proposal, and slide a diamond cluster ring onto her finger!

Magnolia Plantation & Gardens

The gardens of Magnolia Plantation opened in the early 1870s, and they are the oldest unrestored gardens in the country. The same family has owned the plantation for more than 300 years, and each generation adds its own special tough. Blooms of azaleas, daffodils, camelias, and many more flowers will delight year-round, and springtime is when the gardens reach their peak. If you want to make a day of it, the plantation has even more to offer in addition to the gardens: a zoo, a nature train for observing wildlife, and a boat tour on the Ashley River.

In a classy restaurant

McCrady's Restaurant

If your sweetheart enjoys farm-to-table dining, she'll love McCrady's. James Beard Award-winning chef Sean Brock sources ingredients from local farmers, and its menus change daily. Top-notch sommeliers will recommend the best pairings with your food. User reviews rave, "This food is art," and "One of the best meals I have ever had." Between the romantic ambience and the beautiful presentation, this will be a meal you won't forget.

Fig

Like McCrady's, Fig (short for "Food Is Good") makes use of the freshest local ingredients to create its menu. As its website describes it, "Laid-back, eclectic, and unpretentious, Fig is one part retro diner, one part neighborhood cafe, and one part elegant bistro." Soft lighting and a welcoming staff encourage you to settle in and relax. Foodies will be enchanted by fresh, creative seafood dishes like Mustard Crusted Grouper with Tomato Ragout. Order a glass of champagne to cap off your meal, and pop the question with a gorgeous diamond cluster ring!

If you're ready to propose, pick out the perfect diamond engagement ring from My Trio Rings!

Where to Propose in Memphis

Proposal

Ah, Memphis, the home of Graceland, blues, and great barbecue! You'll find a lot to love about this Southern city. If you're ready to propose, think about planning your special moment in one of these settings.

An upscale restaurant

Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar

If your bride likes sampling different foods, she will love Flight Restaurant and Wine Bar. You may have ordered wine flights before -- several small portions of different wines -- but it's rare to have this option with food! Choose three of each item: appetizers, entrees, and desserts. You'll find yourself enchanted by the ambience, the friendly staff, and the beautifully presented food.

Chez Philippe At the Peabody

The Peabody Memphis is a hotel famous for the resident ducks, who live on the hotel rooftop and march down to the marble fountain in the lobby twice a day. Its restaurant, Chez Phillipe, is also known as one of the finest restaurants in the South. Try the 7-course menu and pair it with wines. Your lady will adore the elegant dining room and decadent food.

An elegant hotel

The Inn at Hunt Phelan

There's good reason why weddings and receptions are popular at this antebellum mansion: it's absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a getaway with old Southern charm, you'll admire the stately white columns on the hotel porch and the lovely patio. The comfortable rooms have four-poster beds that will make you feel as if you've stepped back in time.

Westin Memphis Beale Street

You can't beat the location and elegance of the Westin Memphis Beale Street. Beale Street is the hub of downtown Memphis, the most popular destination for live music and nightlife. Venture out for the night, relax with a drink at the hotel bar (there's often live piano music), and surprise your lady with strawberries and champagne in your room before you ask for her hand!

In the open air

The Memphis Botanic Garden

Take a break from seeing the sights in the city and find a moment of serenity in the Memphis Botanic Garden. The 96-acre property is full of flowers, plants, and trees that provide a picturesque background for your proposal. The Sensory Garden, which engages all five senses, is full of sculpture, fountains, and touchable plants. Consider presenting your diamond cluster ring on the red drum bridge of the Japanese Garden of Tranquility, with koi and ducks swimming peacefully in the pond below. If you're proposing in the spring, the blooms in the Rose Garden peak in mid-May, and their fragrance is intoxicating.

Carriage Tour of Memphis

Nothing says romance like an evening carriage ride! You'll see a variety of sights as the horses clip-clop through the town: charming architecture, lively nightlife, and quiet green spaces. Pop the question as you and your sweetheart savor breathtaking views of the Mississippi River!

If you're ready to propose, pick out the perfect diamond cluster ring at My Trio Rings!
